I am looking to install a 97 civic cluster into my 89 civic hatchback im currently runnin a d16z6 with a y8 manual transmission with a ry wire harness everything works well except the cable speedo but i havent had any luck at all finding a write up about how to do this swap thanks in advance and i apologize for such an unorthodox question

I think you have to find the wiring diagrams for both and splice the corresponding connections together

The speedo cables should just plug in I think.

 

Ive found the pinout on the 89 but all i find looking for the 97 pinout is for integra idk why google does that but it does and all the old post of ek cluster in an ef are either gone or the pics want load to make sure what there doing

 

Yea, it's gonna be hard due to the photobucket debacle.

 

What cable? The Y8 box should have the VSS in place, your rywire harness should have a plug for the VSS, and your EK cluster will be looking for the signal from it. You need to connect the cluster to the wire on your rywire harness.

Download the EK workshop manual, it has wiring diagrams in the back of it that you can use to match. If you can't find a download link, PM me your email address and i'll send it to you.

 

Trace the circuit film on the back. I did this back in ‘04 to put in a GSR cluster.
