Check engine light, 1994 Accord
I have a 1994 honda accord, I recently pulled the tranny to replace the clutch. In doing that I broke the coolant temp sensor, I replaced it. Check engine light is still on and it flashes 6 times when I check it. I replaced the sensor a 2nd time to have the same results. Any ideas?
Also with both new sensors the fan runs for about 10 mins after shutting off motor, even with a cold motor, that's with the key off when I turn the key on it turns the fan off. That's new, never did that before.
After it sits for a bit it has a slight hesitation to start, turns over about an extra 5 seconds than normal and its a bit of a rough idle for 5 to 10 seconds.

Check the wiring in the connector going to the sensor. Sometimes the wires/pins come loose or they may be corroded/dirty and you will not be getting full connection.
Also just to make sure you are replacing the correct sensor. There are 2 ECT sensors and 2 ECT switches. The engine coolant temp sensor for the ECU is the 2 wire sensor located under the distributor, the 1 wire ECT sensor located directly beside it is for the gauge cluster (temperature gauge) and the two ECT switches on the thermostat housing and intake are for the radiator/AC fan control.

First one was Delphi #b000cgma3c, 2nd was SU4006VC, that's the part number from autozone that I replaced. That is the 2 wire that I replaced both times. I will check wires/pins again and update this afternoon.

The other sensors are inexpensive, I may just replace them all.
Replaced it twice with the parts I listed before with the same result.

On another note does anyone know where I can get another connector end for it? I have speculation since the sensor was broke off in the connector maybe a wire came loose inside the connector.
I must have had to many beers last night. You were totally right, I had them crossed and it seems to work just fine now. Thank you for your help, you definitely know what your talking about.
