Question about H22 swap in my Civic LX
So I drive a 2004 Honda Civic LX Coupe, and I want to swap my engine for the H22 from a Honda Prelude VTEC (for that DOHC VTEC, yo). I found a Honda Prelude VTEC on craigslist for VERY cheap and allegedly the engine runs perfectly but they are getting rid of the car because their transmission is completely shot. It's an automatic (ew) and my Civic is a 5 speed manual. I was wondering if I would be able to put my 5 speed manual transmission on the H22 and have it work, or would I have to buy a 5 speed manual Prelude VTEC to have it work?
No one makes a mount kit for the H22 to the 01-05 Civic (mainly because its an illegal swap in most parts of the country, and far inferior to the K-series). Also, I've never seen an H2D adapter kit. I have seen H2B adapters, but that's usually in much older cars.
K-series is a far superior engine design (that's not an argument of opinion, that's just stating a fact), there's already engine mounts available for the swap (or you could even use factory mounts from an EP3 or DC5 chassis), there's already subharnesses available to adapt the K-series drivetrain to your chassis harness, and your chassis supports K-Pro without modification (tuning ECU and supported software, which if you do an engine swap to something other than a D17, its required).
By contrast, if you run an H22 you'll need to do the following:
1. Fabricate your own engine mounts, or cobble some together using various alternatives.
2. Fabricate your own engine wiring harness and figure out a way to tune the engine, because nothing is available to adapt an H to the chassis harness.
3. Figure out what lengths you'll need, and get some axles either custom made or make your own.
For an inferior engine, it seems like a lot of unnecessary work. Up front costs may be less, but you'll spend more in the execution unless you're incredibly talented at fabrication. And, if you're comparing factory engines, the K24A2 has more power and torque then any H22 (with exception to only the Euro-R Accord). There are several K-series in the 1,000hp+ range and very few H22's make it past 800hp.
Are all of the K series engines DOHC VTEC or just certain ones? I'm trying to research it but there's not much info on it like I was finding for the H series.

Just so you're aware, I've only seen 2 documented H22 swaps in this chassis in the past 17 years. Both of which the owner had to do tons of fabrication.
