Default Will mechanical timing effect smog results? d16a6

Hi, I have a sohc.
I set the am timing like the d16a6, pointed at the rear t belt cover pointer, not the "up" and the crank at tdc.

Anyway, will my emmisions go down any if I set the cam to the "up position?

ignition timing will stay at 18 btd +- 2

it needs to be set to stock for stock emissions. that means mechanical timing and ignition timing. if it is not meeting emissions like that then you need to look at other things.
