Oil pump question

Default Oil pump question

Do they make a high flow oil pump for the f23 or is there need for one. I know in the numerous V8 build I do I can drill oil passages to create more volume or flow which ever you want to say. So I was wondering being this is my first Honda build is there any need for a bigger oil pump or can I get one. Thank you everyone for your time.

Is it worth driling out passages in the main journals? i was reading about porting the oil pump to increase volume. Not so much pressure but keeping flow/volume going.

Why is it that you looking to increase oil pressure and/or volume? These engines do not suffer from any sort of oil starvation or pressure losses in stock form. Stock pump even works on forced induction builds without issues.

I don't know peace of mind I'm just now dabbling in the Honda scene. I've built many V8 and it's always common practice building them. I'm just asking questions to get a better understanding of them. Questions to get a better understanding of them like I said this is my first go-round I'm no stranger to building and machining just not with Hondas. But what can more oil flow hurt? Like I said I'm new to the import scene and I'm just asking questions.

Fair enough.

Flow can be great but in most cases this would also require a higher volume oil pump, shimmed oil pressure relief valve and sometimes a larger sump oil pan.In my opinion this modification would not be required. Stock pumps are good for up to 60psi. More than enough for piece of mind.

Swet thanks for the answer. I always have a tendency to over think things. I was just thinking what could it hurt. I seen a few of your post Ghost so ill take what you say as gospel as you seem very knowledgeable.

If you desire more oil volume or pressure then be prepared to hunt online for performance engine shops/machine shops and also be ready to pay alot of $. IF you have the $ and want an upgraded pump...then its all you, there will be small gains but not much in science, more in peace of mind and bragging rights.
There are no readily available aftermarket performance oil pumps out there for the F series as far as I know.
Honda designed their engine and lubrication system very well and they took into consideration all the science in oil. You would think more flow or higher pressures mean safer engines or better performing engines but its simply not the case. The journal bearings for the connecting rods and main bearings are designed from the factory along with the lubrication system to get only the required volume and pressure (Its more of a what we found it in the world to be type thing, a sweet spot if you will) . As long as the volume and pressure is there, higher revving engines and increased power levels surprisingly do not require any changes, at least not until you get into serious high performance territory.

Cool well i work in a machine shop so no need for one of those lol and i like playing with things. I dont mind paying money for good parts so thats not an issue either. My questions are just based off prior experience with other high HP builds
