Intermittent Throttle Issues - Code P0122
Hi All,
So about 16 months ago my 2000 Accord LX CEL came on, code P0122. Took it to a mechanic, who cleared the code. About 600 miles later it came on again, but since the mechanic was so lax about it I ignored it. I went off at some point last spring and came on later that summer. Recently it's been showing symptoms of a bad TPS, for example taking forever to shift into a higher gear and suddenly shifting down as I approach full stop. This doesn't happen every trip however, and oftentimes shutting the engine off and then on again alleviates the problem. Last night I cleared the code again with a friend's reader, and it came on again shortly after, so I took it to a mechanic today.
The mechanic checked the TPS and told me that there doesn't seem to be any issue with it. He even drove it around for about 40 minutes and had no problems. I was wondering if anyone here could posit a theory as to what is going on. I'm guessing based on what I've read that maybe somewhere onboard there's a poor connection, and that's why low voltage is a problem. If anyone could help point me in the right direction that would be fantastic.
Thanks

so basically you want to turn the ignition to on without starting the car and on the signal wire it should be .45-.50 volts closed and as you slowly open it should go up to 4.5ish with no dead spots
you will backprobe the signal wire checking for voltage
if bad you can get one here

you will need to use a dremel to cut a notch for a flathead screwdriver in the head of the two bolts holding it to the throttle body and then use a flathead to turn it out
