96 accord f22b1 p28 obd1 conversion code 9
Recently baught this car and it had wiring problems throwing 12 codes well I got it down to none but now its just got code 9 (cyp). Its an f22b1 vtec running an obd1 conv with a p28 ecu 5pin dizzy. (Vtec worked perfectly every time at 5k rpm) but recently my alternator went bad along with my battery and it also blew the battery fuse (replaced all that stuff) and now I'm throwing a code 9 witch wasnt there before and no vtec now. If found plenty of info on 6pin dizzys used with the p28ecu, but nothing at all on the 5pin with a p28. The car idles smoothly no misses and runs great but this issue is really bothering me because who doesn't like vtec. I've never really worked on cars (electrically) before this one so I'm stumped as to what could cause this now especially since it worked fine before the alternator died. I've checked the wires all the way back to the ecu and they all seem fine. I'm new to the world of honda so there may be something im missing. I've been told to replace the dizzy but I'd like to exhaust any other options on it before I replace it as money is a bit tight at the moment.
Do you have another ecu you can drop in ? I would say try that first and if not, this code is normally distributor based so then you would probably need to just get another distributor or you can try spraying out the distributor with some electrical parts cleaner and see if that fixes it first. Also check the harness and conversion harness for any loose pins or unplugged pieces.
