Odometer acting up
Car is 1995 Honda Accord EX, just replaced vehicle speed sensor with one I got from the junkyard. The speedometer won’t start working until the cars been driven for a few minutes then it’ll sometimes work or just bounce around from 15 to 20mph. it’ll sometimes stop working randomly and to get the speedometer to work you have to reset the mileage counter back to zero or hit around the odometer. Speedometer and odometer doesn’t work which is making me want to believe it’s a faulty vehicle speed sensor but at same time I’ve never replaced a VSS before this junkyard one and was curious if there was any calibration procedure or dont do’s while installing a new VSS, thanks!
If there is no Check Engine Light and trouble code indicating an issue with the VSS, it is more likely an issue with the speedometer circuit board; which is a very common issue with your year Accord.
would a faulty circuit board not allow cruise control to work also because it’s unoperable and I was reading that it would indicate a VSS if speedometer/odometer/cruise control doesn’t work.
The speedo circuit board has no effect on cruise control. The cruise control not working can be due many other causes, not just the VSS.
if you have no Trouble Code regarding the VSS, it may not be an issue.
