AC compressor PAG oil capacity
Does anyone know the recommended PAG oil capacity of an AC compressor for an 8th generation Civic? I've read everything from 2 to 5 ounces and the Honda manuals claim they are pre-filled, but give no figure (their OEM compressors). After market compressors claim you should empty them and refill; while others claim you should drain the old compressor to get a figure. None of these suggestions yield a consistent figure for refilling an empty after-market compressor. It is a 1.8L engine LX model. Anyone know what the correct amount of PAG oil is? And what are the draw-backs for overfilling? Can it damage the system? Thanks for any answers.
my comp is down and my helms is on it so I don't know the specific capacity but the compressor has a built in oil separator so you never need to add any oil to it, as long as it came with oil it should be fine, but it should be somewhere between 3 and 5 ounces
Thanks. The Chinese compressor came with labels stating it had 2 different amounts of oil in it, but stated to remove it and replace. I put in about 4 ounces. The company never responded to my inquiries, so I am not impressed by UAC.
then just go by what was in the old one
