Just picked up an EF with B20 Vtec, more details in signature.
As you can see from the below pictures there is a pretty decent gap between the mount and the engine, on the driver's side. I tried just tighting the nut but its as far as it will go and still have this gap, any ideas? Is it using the wrong hardware?
Try placing a jack with a block of wood underneath the oil pan and jacking it up to take the weight off. Then, remove the mount and brackets and ascertain what's going on. Also, you may could put some shims under the bolt heads to move the bracket closer to the engine block.
Those are not factory bolts... they are aftermarket and could be too long for the application. It has nothing to do with the Innovative mounts. The driver's side engine bracket's threaded holes in the block may also be damaged and could have been repaired previously... if the thread pitch is still the same as the factory bolts, I would suggest you get the OE bolts and replace those that you have now. I bet that the aftermarket bolts are in there for a reason... and it is because they are what the previous owner HAD to use. The suggestion above of using some washers to help tighten up the mount is a good temporary fix... as long as there are enough good threads inside the holes to allow the bolt to engage fewer threads.
OP, you are gonna have to get your hands dirty on this one. Don't wait for an answer from here... get in there and assess the issue. If you still are unsure, take some photos of the holes and the bolts themselves and post them here so that we may be able to help you based on your specific situation.
