1998 Accord VTEC 4 Cyl Timing Question
I am changing timing belt on 1998 Accord with VTEC 4 cylinder. Crank marks are off slightly, like maybe a couple degrees. I was expecting them to be dead on when cam marks are dead on. I feel like this is a stupid question because it would be off a lot further if off by a tooth but still not sure. Left side of belt feels tight with new belt on.
How far off is the crank?
When the cam and crack sprockets are lined up the belt will not be loose but will not be under tension. The belt does not stretch. If the left side of the belt is taught when turning and the marks line up you should be good to go. Verify that the cam sprocket is actually lined up with the head. It may seem to be lined up but can be hard to see with the engine in car.
