CRX questions... silly maybe...
Ok.... I used to have a 92 hatch. prior to that a Prelude... Well, at any rate, I have never ridden in, much less owned a HF 65 hp wonder... lol. Anyway, first question... The engine idles @ 500 rpm near about... Normal?????? Second question... sitting at idle... push the pedal slightly maybe around 2K rpm or so... lights on console and A/C console and radio dim for a second, but once you rev it again it doesn't do it... only right after start-up, and only once maybe twice and then it doesnt do it till you re-start it later...
ALSO, while I am at it lemme get an opinion... K. I bought this car for 500 bucks... 142K mileage, with a dented hood and front right fender... where the fender bolts on where the very first bolt is on the front of the car of the inner fender it is slightly bent from where my friend hit a lady @ like 15 mph... I am not too keen on cars that have been in ANY kind of accident, BUT I have looked the car over sooo many times and dont see any kind of damage other than the one spot (which I already fixed with a ball peen hammer and a chisel...) Once I get the new hood and RF fender the car will be good as new as far as I know, it runs great, no apparent leaks, etc... Should I keep it? (I mean I am going to drive it a while anyway, but what I am wondering is if I should keep it a WHILE and maybe swap it, or tune the D15 a little since all I want to do is autocross....) Opinions? Answers? LOL... Thanks guys.

well actually u got a really good deal on the car... dont worry abou tany minor body damages.. that can be easyly fixed later on.... u got a great deal... dont even bother fixind that HF engine... u start with 65 hp and even with 500 bucks on mods u wont pass 75 hp.. wich they are going to suck bad on auto-xsing.... get a swap of any kind.. for auto x sing a LS engine will suite u good bc of low rpms torque...anyways u can search around.. read a few posts.... u will come to find in a few weeks what are really the good swaps for the crx/civics
Yeah..seems like you got a good deal. If you just want to auto X ...just swap in a Y8... The sohc vtec. The LS is a ton heavier, and my swap cost 2700, when it was all said and done. You can use your bottom end and just put a Y8 head on there. It will be a TON cheaper, and you will have fun with it. http://crx.honda-perf.org/articles/z6swap/z6swap.html . And remember you will have to rewire for an ls swap..so you might as well go vtec, and stay light. In autoXing nimbleness is the key. My first year autoXing I took rookie of the year with a 93 civic CX with 15's and neuspeed race springs. Spend your money on suspension first and a little on engine if you want to have a good autoXer.

I would strongly sugest not just slapping an sohc vtec head designed for a 130hp output on a stock hf bottom end which is designed for fuel economy and a big 62hp. I bet it would last a week, also the hf tranny has a gas mileage geared tranny; I would say if your serious about autocrossing buy a b16a (jdm civic/crx siR) motor. If your not all that serious and want an improvement over the hf power-plant buy a d16a6. (usdm crx/civic si) Its alot faster than stock, and if you decide to put the sohc vtec (d16z6) head on it the bottom end can hold the power without a problem
oh p.s. i am selling a whole d16z6 rebuilt engine tranny ecu and harness if anyone wants it you wont be able to use the hydro tranny buy any si/dx 4g tranny will work
(! your welcome !)

Thanks guys!!!!! I feel TONS better!!! I will feel even better once I get my fender and hood fixed/replaced. As far as swapping, I will figure all that out in time... I was thinking about just grabbing a B16A, but who knows... I will do my research first, and go from there... I plan on making a few trips on the stock motor anyway... Take advantage of that awesome gas mileage...
hey i'm from atlanta too, i just swapped a b16 into my 88 crx si, i have my d16a6/tranny/ecu laying in my garage if youre interested...

I am excited about this car... Turns out I found an EG hatch to drive daily, and the CRX will be for autocross... reason being is I dont want to strip the hatch in any way, so its all good... I am gonna put the D16 in the CRX, and I have a B18A for the hatch...

hmm...Im pretty sure all the 1.5 bottom ends are all the same, aside from the harness, head, and ecu. Im telling you...if you want to autoX ..DO NOT GO DOHC!
Its not worth it. A b16a on an autox course? The d16y8 puts out 127hp and 107 ft. lbs of torque. The b16a puts out 158hp and 111ft. lbs of torque. Let me tell ya.. that b16 is WAY heavier that that d series. Like I said..if you want to autoX and do well you want to concentrate on the handeling...not the power. A heavy, undersearing swap will not help you on the autoX course. Go to the road race/autox forum and ask them. They will tell you the same thing.
