Default Can I use a pipe clamp on the airbox/rubber inlet manifold junction?

I took off the rubber inlet manifold that connects the airbox with the butterfly/engine intake to give it a clean/make it black again, good thing I did because there were more than a few grains of beach sand inside, the junction where the rubber inlet manifold meets the airbox is only held on by a spring that wraps around the rubber, it's really not that tight a seal, easy to move it up and down the flange. I put some red rubber grease at the junction to try seal it better and then put it all back together but I'd like to tighten up the seal by using a pipe clamp.

I'm not sure if doing that is advisable though, I'm assuming Honda used a spring to seal the junction to allow some play when the engine moves on its mountings and tying the rubber inlet manifold tightly to the airbox may cause it to get damaged/tear/wear prematurely?

Anyone notice what I've mentioned above about that junction being not the tightest or tried using a pipe clamp to stabilise it?

Pics below show what I'm referring to
