Default Electric heat in an EG?

In Virginia we have to have window defrost in order to pass inspection. I would like to install electric heat just for this purpose as the car will be a show car and not driven very often and never in rain or cold. Any ideas? Will the cheap little window heaters pass inspection?

Generally an inspector will want to see the stock system in working order. However, the rules http://www.vsp.state.va.us/downloads...15%202016).pdf don't exactly say that:

Windshield defroster. Vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, must be equipped with windshield defroster systems.
Inspect for and reject if:
1. Any 1969 or subsequent model is not equipped with a windshield defrostersystem;
2. Defroster fan fails to function;
3. Fan functions, but a warm stream of air cannot be felt blowing against the windshield.
Engine must be warm and all elements of the defroster system must be in the on position.
Switch is not convenient to the driver and working properly.

...Aren't there just 2 coolant hoses for the OEM heater core going into the firewall? Are you really making your bay that much cleaner by removing those?

I looked into this for our endurace race car for rainy days. This (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wgc-9933/overview/) with some heater duct to and some creativity should meet your needs nicely.

Going to register it as an Antique, get a cool antique plate, and not worry about inspections anymore! I can't daily drive it but didn't plan on it anyway. Once I can figure out a viable option for the defrost then maybe switch it back to a regular tag but in the mean time this will work.

I also have a shaved water neck. The goal is to see as little as possible around the motor as you look around the bay. So yes it will make the bay that much cleaner. thanks

If the car is going to be put together (NOT BUILT) for car show purposes, why even put a license tag on it?

Not sure what you mean about put together or not built? I can drive it to car show up to 250 miles from the house ifnibtagnit as an antique. I don’t want to BUILD It and not drive it on occasion.
