EM1 obd1 and inspecton
I have a em1 with a JRSC and a p28 obd1 and a jumper harness with hondata. The laws in my state (vermont) changed this year not allowing me to inspect my car because the obd2 port is dead. What are my options? I considered putting it back to stock but thats kinda lame
Thanks
Thanks
Other than what was posted above me, you will have to at bare minimum get a stock ecu, injectors and the appropriate EVAP parts required by the stock ecu and swap out the parts (assuming they care about whether or not you have a check engine light in your state). I have to do this every two years for my EM1, just so they can plug into the OBD2 port and see that the monitors are set and there are no check engine codes. Then I swap back Hondata S300 and injectors and forget about it for two more years.
Advice listed above is basically all you can follow. Either that or "know someone" who will pass you, your local community may have someone.

We have the same thing in Canada with the obd2 port, my em1 is converted to obd1 with a p28 also.
I had had to go to the dmv and get the car registered under hot rod status and the go back to the sniffer on the muffler with 1970 standards.
Had to to get the dealership to sign off on a letter stating it’s higher displacement the stock (b20v)

^Such bullshit man. Just weird sense of priorities some of these motoring entities have.
Very glad I live in Texas where (at least for now) no one gives a **** about any of that. My county doesn't even do emissions testing lol, they just visually inspect for a cat converter.

sent you a PM about some ideas for you.
I aint listing them here... I'm sure I'm all ready on some lists to inspect regularly, don't need anything else.

Not sure why but no company has tried to piggyback the OBD2 B/D/H ECU's. It's either OBD1 piggyback, or OBD2 standalone like the AEM EMS.

You revert to stock, register your car in another state, or cheat. Those are the only three options.
None of the AEM systems are OBD2 in any way. In fact, there isn't one that I know of. Haltech is closest to having some functionality with the Elite series, but it's totally up to the user to configure it from scratch. Even then it is still cheating.

Yeah they're obd2 compatible.
Actually, they aren't. The CEL/MIL in the cluster no longer works. The OBD-2 diagnostic port will work to provide live data, but it will NOT provide any diagnostic codes. So, the On Board Diagnostic system does not work even though the port is live. When you convert to an OBD-1 ECU, the adapter harness and ECU no longer communicate to the port which is why you fail emissions testing because they plug into the port and it provides no communication to the ECU.
I don't know anymore, my life is a lie, etc. I've had numerous cars in my county pass under AEM standalone, and several hacked piggybacks, but once again it doesn't really tell me much for states/counties that actually care about these things.
It physically plugs in to an OBD2 engine harness. Otherwise it's exactly the same as the OBD1 version. It has zero OBD2 functionality. No catalyst monitoring, no evap or orvr function, nothing.
No manufacturer is going to bother making an ecu with OBD2 because there is truly no legal scenario where it could be applied.
Still kickin' it with my FL plate. It's a ticking time bomb though, I need to address it this year.

How come no one uses obd2 ecu's for turbos or SC's?
