FF Battles in the South East
Not sure what part of the southeast you're in, but it does seem rather localized/smaller than in other places in the country.
Most of the fwd road racing guys I know run SCCA/NASA with most everyone making the trek in for Gridlife at road atlanta.
I drive-by road atlanta and lanier raceplex to get to my shop everyday and there's something out there every weekend it seems like.
I know atlanta motorsports park is active and roebling road is as well.

I know about the SCCA stuff and Nasa but im taking about like Vtec club / honda track days time attack.... They are holding a 2018 Eibach Meet Southeast Track Attack April 15

I just think it's because on the west coast, time attack seems a lot more popular than here in the east coast. Even though TA has been around with clubs like SCCA and NASA for years, organizations like Global Time Attack and now Gridlife have really been putting in a lot of work to grow the sport; they get a large amount of publicity and with social media and youtube etc everyone can follow along and see whats going on with new teams, drivers etc so I think that has helped grow TA quicker in some areas. GTA has a lot of events in the west coast and Gridelife has a lot in the Midwest (which is where they originated), but they are branching out closer to the east coast for some track dates. Like I know GTA has an event at NJMP on June 15-16th which is the closest event east coast that i've seen in 4 years (at least to my location).
There used to be a Red Line Time Attack Series that was from New Jersey I believe but they ended up moving it to CA also. It would be cool (being a Honda guy myself) to have Honda specific DE events or TA events here on the east coast but the closest Honda only racing that I know of is the NASA Honda Challenge series which is a wheel to wheel based competition.

In South Florida FARA is king for FF Racing. You will see built B18, K20, K24 totally unrestricted. Usually 10-15 cars on at a good race. I use to be active with them and it was great stuff. It’s often multiclass so you have 1.6 miata through Daytona prototypes and GT-1’s on track.
The only timed events I know of as described is NASA TT. Honda Challenge south of Orlando is dead.

My mother in law got sick. I have 2 kids so I had to drop out of racing for 2 years. Now I am back but moving into spec Miata because:1. The field is huge2. It’s cheap (unless you want to run at the tip of the spear , then it’s 35-40k and stickered tires every race)3. The SM can run in many classes besides SM with minimal tweaks. I will prob bring out my green hatchback to run 3B next month. It’s been 2-3 years and there are some new cars/drivers. I don’t know where you are in your build but I would source a k24 over the k20 if I were doing it again. On the bank my car is equal but the k24 guys pull a little on me getting off corners with the torque.

Again, the East/SE is too big for one grassroots event. SoCal you drive 2-3 hours and you can hit every event in a series. East/SE 3 hours won't even get you a quarter of the way to some tracks.
Kind of depends. I can reach in 4 hours:Daytona....Sebring.....Homestead....PBIR-Not too shabby and 3 of those are top tier tracks.
miamirice what is going to be your first race this year? I know you said something about spec Miata... What are you going to do with the hatch still do some Fara here and there...Never got to see you race it i stop going to fara race right around when you got the hatch. I was surprised you made the that hatch into a race car. Hope to meet / race with you one day
People from the NE and probably even the upper and west sides of the SE probably would make the 10+ hour drive down to FL for events. The problem isn't track proximity to any one location, its that everyone is spread out over half a country, compared to SoCal everyone being within 3-4 hours (even Norcal is less than 5 hours from SoCal).
I'd love to see something on the east like CA has with HFF but I don't think its realistic.
How many of those would be reasonable enough pricewise to support a small grassroots TA event?

Yea was looking at the prices at the Vtec club events in SoCal are like $140 compared to the track days we have down here which are like $350+.........Eibach is holding and event on April 15th at the FIRM somewhat like they have in cali.... Hopefully it get a good turnout so we can get more events and honda enthusiast on the tracks like Sebring, PBIR, Homestead.
I think the issue down here is between PCA, PBOC, FARA, NASA, SCCA....the DE’s and all the pro teams that have facilities here, you can’t rent these tracks that cheap. The tracks are pretty booked. Anytime I arrive early to Sebring on a Friday there is a single Factory team renting the track for a day doing testing or working with fat walet customers. So when you talk FF again, a k20 civic like I have doesn’t have a field it can compete with or have enough cars for prize contingency because it’s an STU car with SCCA. I wish we had a Honda challenge series that was robust. FARA is good but for FF it’s 10-15 cars, a few with 280whp. I don’t have the checkbook to play with those guys. I think that stuff they run out West that’s purely Honda looks cool but it doesn’t exist here. For wheel-to-wheel I think spec miata, spec e30 or STL are the affordable classes with enough cars to have contingency prizes.

I plan to run my first spec miata race at PBIR feb 10-11. FARA with the civic the following weekend at Homestead. . The civic is fun when it’s right but always chasing a hunting/high idle that we still can’t sort. So the civic is at SickSideways in Sebring. They are so busy prepping cars for 24-hour Daytona I am not sure it will be sorted in time.
