2000 Civic shuts off in the cold
First off let me say I am new to Hondas, but not cars. I bought a well used Civic from a co-worker and put a timing belt water pump, plugs, wires, cap and rotor along with all new brakes. I have driven the car about 3000 miles and it runs great. This is where it gets odd. Now that the weather is getting cold when I start it up in the morning it runs fine then shuts off after about 5 minutes, I let it sit for a few minutes it fires right back up and no problems the rest of the day. If I come home late for work around 10pm the next day when I leave in the morning it has no issues. Only when it sits for several hours. It is like when it is transitioning from open to closed loop. Has to be a sensor in my mind. Does not spitter just shuts off. I asked the guy I bought it from and he said "oh yeah it's done that for a while only when it gets cold though, just let it sit for a few minutes and it's fine". Any ideas?

When it won't start, click the key to on but don't crank, watch for the CEL to cycle on for 2 seconds then go out, and listen for the fuel pump to prime. Also conduct a spark test. You have to do this during the time when it won't start.
