Default 2000 civic, hard to start

2000 civic lx auto 190k- woman driver

CEL catalist low thrushhold

When you go to start it, it stumbles, you have to 1/4 throttle it and play with it sometimes unless the car is already warm, then it starts fine. Its liek its running on 2 cylinders and smells rich, but it runs fine after 10-15 seconds, with no problems after.

It has new:

main relay (this fixed the prob last time it wouldn't start but didn't fix this)
spark plugs
wires
cap
rotor
fuel pressure regulator
fuel pump
new primary o2

And nothing fixed the issue

I can't keep putting money in to this car. Anyone got a dead on fix. Only thing I can think of is distributor may be going out or faulty ecu, injectors sticking or not firing

sounds like main relay to me...

happened in my ef.

After you get it running, when it warms up, any issues starting it? or it just the first start every day?

Already replaced main relay, 3 weeks ago, did not solve this issue. Only does it on cold starts

So you have CEL code P0420, right? Any other CEL codes?

What color is spark at the plugs? My first guess would be a bad coil or ICM in the distributor or possibly a bad distributor sensor.

You need a new catalytic converter, start with that.

If cat was clogged it wouldnt run, or as good as it does when warm

The CEL is saying the cat is not flowing up to spec. It would only not run if it was completely clogged and it would likely blow the exhaust apart or blow the motor. It needs to be changed the car is telling you that. Werather this is relevant to your problem or not it needs to be done.

A bad cat does not necessarily mean its clogged.
He didn't say it had misfire codes, just that its "like its running on 2 cylinders"
