Wiring help please.......
hey, so im hooking my cooling fan up to a manual switch......3 terminals on the switch, ACC, 12v, and ground. Sorry for being a noob, but can't i jus run the ACC and 12v to the battery? please? thanks
Yes, you can wire the acc/12v to the same battery source to make it always on. I think the point to wiring it to actual ignition power (acc) is if you leave the switch on and turn the car off the fan turns off so you won't kill the battery by leaving the fan on.
OK so wait a sec.......the switch's ACC is going to the + on a fan, the 12v to the battery, and the ground to the chassis.......that sound right?? thanks again.......
Alright, so that worked great man.......however, its been cold here and the battery is pretty much dead. Now when i turn the key to the 2nd click, there is this noise coming out of the intake manifold plenum......if i turn the key off it doesnt do it.......any thoughts? thanks

The new switch i wired took the ACC to the + on the fan, the ground to the chassis, and the 12v to the battery.......its hooked up right, but now the battery is dead.........get it?? I dont.
Okay, so you installed a NEW thermo-switch in the proper mounting location (where the radiator hose connects to the thermostat housing) & it won't come on? Did you bleed the system of air at any time?
We get that you made a manual switch.
the question here is what troubkeshoot have you tried to find out why the fan would not turn on, like it supposed to, from factory.
did you check the condition of the fan switch sensor?
Will the fan turn ON if you jumb the fan connector?

Unplug the fan connector at the THERMOSTAT HOUSING. Using a paperclip jump the 2 terminals together. Let us know if the fan comes on.
and did you ENSURE that you have bled the cooling system of air?

The two most common failures are the thermo switch and the fan motor. First check is to jump the switch like others said. With the switch jumped, the fan should start immediately when you turn the key on (no need to start engine). If it does not come on, check for voltage at the motor. If there is voltage but motor does not turn, it is bad.
No. You've taken the switch out of the circuit, and it still does not work. So the switch isn't at issue, instead something else must be wrong. Next check like I said is to see if any voltage is reaching the motor.
Just to make, you are jumping the plug of the car's harness. Not the switch/sensor itself.
unplug the plug from the sensor
use a paper clip and inserted into the plug you just pulled from sensor
turn key to position 2(ON), no need to start the car
go look at the fan.. is it running?
yes..sensor is bad.. replace
no.. you are not getting power at the plug.. now is when you neec to find out why.
are the wires of that plug intact? Trace in back and check for frayed or broken connection.

Did you even do what i wrote?
if you can not troubleshoot this yourself, it is time to seek professional help. The more you mess with things you dont know the more problem you will end up with.
you can do your manual switch but you can already see, its causing you battery issue now.
it wont stop there. You are doing a "bandaid" fix. Get the car to someone who are qualify to work on hondas so they can trace down the problem and fix it so it will work like factory.
