sometimes my car starts then dies i know its the fuel pump becuase i dont hear it chime whats wrong?? is it the fuel pump?

or something else ? injectors?

Check your main fuel relay (main relay). If its bad the pump doesnt stay pressurized or on. Basically you'll start your car up and it will start for a short time then die and won't restart for a couple of minutes or so.

hmmm ok thx wierd though it only happens once in a blue moon like maybe 1 time every 3-4 weeks now it happens like evey second time i start the car ill check the relay though

btw where is the relay lolz is it by the fuze box?

Yep, that's what mine did when it was the relay. Second time I would start it, it would shut off. What year civic is yours? The main relay should be under the dash on the Driver side. Close to where the small fuse panel and hood pop are. If you look under, there will be a small box bolted down with a harness plugged into it.

mines a 92 so how do i tell if its bad?

 

i gaurantee it is the fuel pump main relay. i just got this fixed 3 weeks ago. car would start...then shut down. its so easy to replace. only cost me 20 bucks. trust me.... its not ur fuel pump.

 

Unbolt it, unplug the harness and pull it out. I used a Digital MultiMeter and compared the resistances across different parts of the relay, found I had conitinuity across a couple poles and replaced the relay. Hasn't happened again since. If you have a Helm Manual it will show you where the relay is and which poles to check resistance of.

 

just changed my relay everything was smooth until yesterday where i started it and it went dead right away and didnt start for a couple of minutes i think its the pump is there a wasy to test it out?

 

i have a 92'hb..and trust me one of those blk vacume lines has a small crack in it..it doesnt keep the pressure..on the intake manifold..so get newvacume lines

 

I think you guys should just give him somethings to try I mean he doesn't need to shell out money for parts he doesnt need.

When you turn the ignition on, can you hear the fuel pump make a buzzing sound for around 3 seconds or so?

 

yep i hear it thats when i start it then it dies after theres no buzzzng
for about 15 sec then i hear it buzz start it and it dies again does this about twice before it starts
