fuel pump or main relay???? help?
my girlfriend's car has been acting up. sometimes when it's really hot out, it won't start up. immediately i assumed it was the main relay, because it only happened when it was hot out. yesterday it finally acted up while i was in the car. sure enough we parked it, and a couple of minutes later the car wouldn't start up. so i opened the doors up to cool off the inside of the car. then i turned the key to on to listen for the fuel pump, and no pump. a couple of minutes later i did the same thing and this time there was a fuel pump. car started but died immediately, and then i turned the key to on again, and no pump. i waited again until i could hear the fuel pump, car started, i revved it to keep it going. this morning, nice and cool out, i started the car up 4 or 5 times, and each time w/ no probs. so what's the problem with the car, fuel pump, or main relay???? help me out?

that would sum up the main relay problems really well.
take it apart and reflow the solder joints, the problem should go away.
