Have a 93 accord that the blower motor quit working. found a good blower motor out of a junk yard but it only ran for 2 sec. no power to any thing at the blower motor box. fuse is good. cant find the relay and thinking the switch is bad. any advice will be great

 

Are you using a voltmeter to check for power (+)?

Most blower issues are due to the blower motor resistor or heater control panel not supplying the ground (-). Usually, power (+) is not the issue.

1. Regardless, locate the blower motor resistor, which is on the blower assembly. Unplug the brown 5P wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor.
2. On the brown 5P connector, locate terminal cavity no. 2 (Blu/Red wire - Blue insulation with a Red stripe wire).
3. With a spare piece of wire, insert one end into terminal cavity no. 2. Then connect/touch the other end of the spare piece of wire to chassis ground (bare metal on car's body, like a bracket, etc.).
4. Turn ignition switch to ON.

Does the blower motor run? If it does, the issue not on the power (+) side and the blower motor relay is fine. Issue would then be due to the ground side (-).

 

thanx...this will help a lot. i have turned wrenches for 18yrs but it was as a deisel mechanic. if i can get this blower motor fixed then i am out of the dog house with the wife
