Hey all,
I might need to get a replacement ECU from a yard for my 2001 accord. My car is the SULEV engine. Is the ECU different for the VTEC/ULEV/SULEV engines? Or do they all use the same ECU?
Thanks!

You will need the PCM for your engine. You either have F23A1(LEV) or F23A4(ULEV).
Look for a car with the same engine code and with the same transmission AT or MT, will work. However you may need to have the PCM reprogrammed to work with your key(s).

In the 98-02 cars the E(ngine)C(ontrol)U(unit) is called the P(owertrain)C(ontrol)M(odule). As the ECU/TCU or ECM/TCM are combined into a single unit the PCM.
BTW, why do you think you will need a new brain box anyway?

This car has been throwing p1381-82 codes repeatedly and is now persistent. I have done the following:
-Replaced distributor (as recommended). Dizzy works for awhile then throws code
- Replaced cam sensor
- Completed voltage drop testing, all tests within range
- Added 2nd ground from IACV
- Accessed the wiring harness, tested the cyp circuit for continuity... it tested within range
Last thing is to test the ECU/PCM... I will pull it to test next chance I get.
Any advice?

I found some instructions in a database for diagnosing this issue. It recommends replacing the PCM. I tested the harness and PCM for continuity and the next step is to replace with a known good unit.
I am pretty sure I can get a replacement from a pick-n-pull... but to get the PCM reflashed or reprogrammed for my keys... do I have to take it to a dealer? Do any other shops or parts stores do this? How expensive is it usually?
Thanks!
