So I'm here again guys just looking for some insight I have a 96 prelude S with a f22a1 in it I know I can just put another f22 in it but I was wondering what was needed if I would like to swap a f23 instead considering it has vtec an the f22 does not I'm still going to use my f22 tranny but just want to know is there anything to look out for swapping the f23

 

theres some wiring to be done: accord-prelude electrics dont match straight

 

Like splicing ?

 

like for example accords have 3 wire IAT sensor and preludes 2 wire etc
+ you need to wire vtec there

 

Ahhhhhh ok ok I got you so im better off just throwing another f22a1 for time sake huh

 

remember that its wise to rebuild that swap engine also - new seals/gaskets, timing stuff and maybe clutch while youre there

 

you will need to add vtec to the existing harness

 

It doesn't always ruin the valves when the belt breaks. On customer cars I tend to just slap a new belt and start it up with no covers, side mount or outer belts just to see if the engine runs fine with no noise. On average they get lucky about half the time, try a new belt before throwing tons of money at the car. Even if the engine makes noise or doesn't run right from bent valves it's not like it's not fixable, it's still cheaper than a new engine.

 

^ eh, compression and leak tests there tells you if the valves are gone - do not advice to do blind moves

 

You can't do those with a broken belt lol. It's so much faster and easier to just crank the car with no covers or outer belts, you'll know right away. If it runs smooth with no noise then you can do those checks to be certain but with a bent valve, even just 1, it's going to run like ****. If you run it with no timing covers just be sure to put the lower balance pulley and harmonic balancer on so the timing belt can't walk off the gear.

 

I know but somebody can get the idea that just new belt is enough and they continue drive normally
