1989 civic si hb tranny question
well, youre talkin about using a 5 speed tranny from a 4 door civic, which means its either an EX or LX tranny. you currently have an SI motor, so more than likely you currently have an SI tranny. i can tell you right now that the LX/EX trannys have longer gear ratios than the SI which means slower acceleration, but better gas mileage. so you might see a decline in performance but an increase in gas mileage.
i beleive it is only the final drive gear that is different, do you kinow if it is very hard to change the final drive only, or should i just rebuild my si trany that has a bad output shaft bearing and a leaking seal?

for one, there is such a thing as a DX four door ya know, so he could be getting a DX tranny.
EX tranny is identical to the Si.
DX/LX are the same trannies.
