Default 1989 civic si hb tranny question

Does anyone now if a 5spd tranny from a 4dr will work on the 1.6l sohc 5spd in my 1989 civic si canadian model?

well, youre talkin about using a 5 speed tranny from a 4 door civic, which means its either an EX or LX tranny. you currently have an SI motor, so more than likely you currently have an SI tranny. i can tell you right now that the LX/EX trannys have longer gear ratios than the SI which means slower acceleration, but better gas mileage. so you might see a decline in performance but an increase in gas mileage.

i beleive it is only the final drive gear that is different, do you kinow if it is very hard to change the final drive only, or should i just rebuild my si trany that has a bad output shaft bearing and a leaking seal?

god damn man, this is the second post i've read where you've given the wrong info.

for one, there is such a thing as a DX four door ya know, so he could be getting a DX tranny.

EX tranny is identical to the Si.
DX/LX are the same trannies.
