I have a y8 head with .040 milled off can use this on a b7 bottom end with out valve clearance issues? I plan on checking either way to make sure but haven't had time to take the heads off and if someone has some insight on this I'd like to know so I don't waste my time. Cam will depend right now it's got the stock cam. Thanks.

 

That is a lot to remove from the cylinder head... I suggest you purchase a custom head gasket that makes up for the amount of material that has been removed. Cometic can get you a gasket that is roughly .070" thick.

 

Thanks for replying. I don't want to go down in compression I want to put it on for a high compression mini me. The head was on a y7 before but the b7 valve reliefs are in a different place from what I understand. When I checked zeal it was 12.37:1 compression which I'm fine with but I've been working and haven't got home to check.

This is a Honda engine, not a Chevy 350. You do not increase compression by milling the cylinder head significantly. Doing this moves the crankshaft and camshaft center lines closer together, thus changing your camshaft event timing. You also reduce the ability for the timing belt to be properly tensioned, increasing the chance that the engine jumps time. If these issues don't bother you, clay the engine up and see what level of clearance you have from valve to piston and valve to valve... you need at least .040" clearance... .060" is even better.

 

Yes I understand it changes the center line putting a y8 head on b7 already does that due to deck height difference in b7 and y8 blocks and I know milling the head doesn't help and yes I can degree the cam in. As far as timing belt issue I haven't figured it out yet. The head was already like this I work 50 plus hours a week so I haven't had time to work on it and I know how to clay for p2v clearance. I'm just asking if anyone knows so I don't waste my time I have multiple projects going on and if it ain't guna work I'll work on the others instead.
