hey, so I have a b17a turbo hatch on 8 psi. It had been running perfect until one day I try to smash on it and it’s like I’m hitting a rev limiter around 6,000 rpm and it’ doesn’t go any faster but If I have it in 1st or 2nd gear it will bounce limiter at 7600 no problem. Although while in 3rd gear and up at 6k rpm the air to fuel gauge reads 10.00. And won’t rev out. I have tried new plugs gapped all the way down to .018 , new distributor, new spark plug wires I have also checked for boost leaks and I don’t seem to have any.. Vtec still is engaging when this happens. If I unplug vtec it still does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated thanks !

 

your tune isnt boosted by gear, is it??
i had an issue with my limiter, when my VSS (vehicle speed sensor) was shorted, (revs worked, MPH did not), and i also had an issue when my vtec and CTS sensors were swapped accidentally. also, do you have an check engine light codes by any chance??

 

i ask, because your car could potentially be in limp mode, for a bunch of different reasons----- one could be knock sensor, or coolant temp sensor.

 

I’m not sure if it’s boost by gear or not but I don’t think it is. My mph on the speedo work, I have also recently replaced my coolant temp sensor as well. My car also has no check engine light codes. (Yes the light works)
