Default Climate control unit

I found a post on how to remove the climate control unit from my 94 De Sol. Got it unfastened and almost out but could do see or reach the cables attached to the climate control pivoting lever. It is blocked from view (from the bottom through the radio cavity). What is the trick?
thanks

You need to detach the cable at it's opposite end. It's clipped to the blend door mechanism underneath the dashboard in the passengers foot-well. Once you un-clip it and slip the looped end off its post, the HVAC controls should slide out with the cable (as long as you have all the wire harnesses unplugged).

+1 Disconnect the other end. The mechanism is on the bottom of the heater box right over the "hump" in the middle of the car and may be more easily reached from the driver's side.

Handle the climate control unit carefully. The 25 year old plastic is going to be brittle. Do not try to detach the cable from the control panel end unless you absolutely have to.
