Icon5 2015 Honda Civic LX - when to change fuel filter?

Hi,

I have a 2015 Honda Civic LX (CVT, 4cyl - 1.8L).

1. Do we have a replaceable
fuel filter fuel filter
in this car? I am getting conflicting answers on the internet.
---*I am NOT asking about the oil filter, air cleaner element (Aka engine
air filter air filter
), or the air cabin filter (aka dust & pollen filter).

2. When should this be replaced?
---*I've read that the maintenance minder will not alert you to this, and not replacing it will eventually lead to the fuel pump getting clogged.

I know the savvy seasoned repairman/woman in you has the answer so let me know!

Replaceable, but unnecessary.

The "fuel filter" is part of the fuel pump assembly... it is replaceable, but you must replace the entire pump assembly. There is not a service interval like the older Civic's, so replacement is as suggested above... unnecessary. It is likely that the pump will fail before the filter is a problem, so when your fuel pump fails, replace the entire assembly and you are good to go.

I have never heard of a fuel filter ever causing an issue with any car. It might have, but it's so uncommon I've never heard of it ever happening. Given the OP has a 2015 Civic I smell a troll.

Troll? What's wrong with being curious about his car? You know his driving history? His age? You know everything about cars even before you were conceived, huh?

  1. @ JRCivic11 - Thanks for the detailed explanation a/b the fuel pump integration & replacement time!
  2. @ av911 - Thanks for defending me! I am curious about my car, and want to learn BEFORE repairs are needed. I was also disappointed w/ a few things (stock headlights & tires, etc), and wanted to replace those with upgraded items since the new car warranty just expired. Also, I bought the Philips HIR2 bulb you recommended to me in your response to my halogen headlight question post - thanks!

It could be the many threads created in such a short time and the fact that he's the only person in recorded history asking about fuel filter replacement practically the day after he got the car.

You might be that naive but some of us aren't so gullible.

I got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

@ Holmesnmany - I got the car years ago, not yesterday. I post in bursts about different topics (headlights, filters, etc) b/c I solve problems in bunches. I am also curious about my car, and there is no correct time to be curious. "Trolls" as most people use the term refers to someone selling something under the guise of just being a fellow enthusiast, starting unnecessary drama, or "hating" on someone. Do my posts fall under ANY of that? No, but yours do. You are the "ONLY person in recording history" (since we are all ageless and can actually record history) who has ever been "suspicious" of someone asking about a fuel filter. Please tell all the people including moderators well above your helpful level who have responded to my threads that they are naive, and you alone - are the wise one.

That's a list of all the threads you started in the last couple weeks. Normally I would ascribe to the "no question is a dumb question", but your threads ask about things that are really amateur so I'm sorry you are getting your panties all in a bunch because I threw out the possibility you were a troll. If you and your white knight looked at my profile you would see I have helped scores of people at this site as have many many people. I've put in my work and if you want to cry because someone threw out the possibility you might be a troll that's your problem not mine.

You and your white knight are acting like I called you an ******* or insulted you.

Wow, he started 4 "amateurish" threads in a span of a week!! Holy ****, what's next, 8 in 2 weeks??! Let's not have that happen!

You and your resume of "scores of people" you helped is acting like he's spamming this "busy" forum.
