i got a cherry bomb and thats it, when i am crusing and get on it slightly, outside of VTEC i hear alot of popping formt he exhaust. im not sure what to make of it, and i was ondering if anyone else has heared this before?

It's called backfire. It comes from either having too big of an exhaust, running too rich, or possibly some other stuff. Watch WRC, their cars pop like bitches!

 

oh man.. you have the famous misfiring system... go drifting!!!

 

yea...its usually running to rich. the extra fuel that is dumped ignites with causes that poping noise

it might be in the piping, (not having a smooth inside dia.) where you put the muffler on it might not be sealed right, just some thoughts. i once had a cherry bomb it sounded real bad. ....real bad

 

it sounded nice until the dam fiberglass got hard, it almost sounds like its spitting pieces of hte glasspack out the tailpipe, that might even be it, but i doubt it. thats why i aked u guys

 

get some new piping and have it welded in
they sound ok if done right

The CRX I just bought had a cancerous gaping void in teh muffler, sounded loud as hell, in gear off gas decelerating it would pop and backfire like a mother. Kept my old stock exhaust off the first one I had though and switched it the next day. No more back fire. I can only attribute that to loss of needed backpreasure.

If I had to say it was anything it would be the cherry bomb man. But your experiancing it in acceleration so richness is the primary factor here. Even if you lean it out though expect some due to the huge piece of time capsule sized pipe you have under there.

 

the odd part, it does not make any bad noises unless its at like half throttle out of VTEC. deceleration is nice and smooth, and VTEC is loud obnoxious, but no popping. i just wasnt to see if it could be signs of a dangerous lean condition or something going on...
