Default new o2 supstream sensor didn't fix cheMMy

I have a 2000 civic LX. My code reader gave me a P0135 reading. I replaced the upstream O2 sensor. Started it, got it hot, but it won't idle. If I disconnect the battery to reset the computer will it fix it? The CE light is still on. Please help.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I took the negative battery terminal off for about 10 minutes re-attached it and started the car. CE light was off and, after a few miles the idle settled down as the computer "learned". So, all is well and I learned about O2 sensors. BTW
Autozone wanted $100 for the O2 sensor. I ordered one from Ebay-$17.00 and free shipping, and its working great. Hope it continues to.

Glad it is fix. After any fix, when cel is on, you should clear the code. That way the ecu can relearn everything and go through its sensors check. If everything check out ok, then the cel will stay off.
Its like restarting your pc, smartphone, etc..
yes, local parts store will cost much much more. Ebay is good source, just make sure all part numbers are correct and seller have good feedback scores.

Hi, Can you clear the code with your code reader? I understand just unhooking the battery for a while will clear it-that appears to have worked for me. Is there a best way to clear the code?
thanks

you can get a code reader tool that will do that but those are expensive, like $70+. i have an $13 bluetooth OBD2 interface reader that connects with an app on my phone. The app is $15 and you can clear the CEL from it, and see everything your ECU does in real time with a couple seconds of delay. for less than $30, you can see everything and do everything an auto shop can.

bluetooth adapter:
Amazon Amazon
android app (also on iOS): https://www.obdautodoctor.com/android.php
