'97 Civic DX with D16Z6 Swap Shifting Issue
I have an issue with shifting on my Civic. I just finished the swap and and all the wiring checked out fine. When I started the car it ran perfectly. I got all of the coolant in that was needed and the oil amount is correct.
When I did the swap, the transmission was the only part of the car that had parts swapped around. The z6 transmission that came with the z6 engine was a lever clutch and the DX uses hydraulic so I needed to use the stock tranny that came with my d16y7. They are both d-series engines and from what I had read online, all of the components should be interchangeable. Long story short, I am running:
D16z6 with a y7 tranny
y7 tranny has new clutch and pressure plate. Because of difference in the splines between the y7 and z6 tranny, I am using the flywheel from the z6 as the y7 one is not compatible (difference in splines).
After the car was together, I started the car and shifted into 1st gear. I made it about halfway down my driveway. I think I made it into 2nd gear but then I stopped to be sure there was no other traffic the road I was turning onto. After I stopped, I put the car in neutral. It now appears to be stuck in neutral. I can hear the shift linkage move the selector but it doesn't appear to actually catch a gear. I have looked at the slave cylinder and it moves when the clutch is pressed. The car just doesn't catch any gears. I can a faint grind into reverse which is usual if I am remembering right. Like I said, the clutch is new. When I put it all back together, I made sure to do absolutely everything correctly inside the tranny (bolt torques and everything) to be sure there were no mistakes.
Hope someone can help me with this,
Thanks!
