You sure about that? I'm pretty confident the later (96-97) 'sols were a2's also. Wikipedia corroborates, but it's Wikipedia so it's about as trustworthy as a politician. I was speaking strictly about del sols up there too, so that's why there was no mention of 99-00 Civic si.

Yep. The B16A3 was the standard DOHC VTEC models of production of the Del Sol which ended in 1997 (I was there for that one). Only the last year of production in 1997 was the B16A2 used. (About 1,500 units in the last year production of 5,000 or so Del Sols, IIRC).

It was one of those, "You had to be into it back then kinda things.. "

Oh I was there. First Honda my circle of friends ever swapped was a B18c1 into a Sol S actually.

There's a good chance I just never ran across any 96's. I feel like every 97 vtec I ever saw was the dark emerald color too. We only had a couple of any trim come through the dealer that year at all.

Thank God there are a few of us left, I turn 55 on 11/8. I remember driving 80's hondas. I also remember driving late 70's cars as well.
Regards
Dave

I am proud to be one of the "old guys"... being old comes with years of experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.
