Integra GS-R interior dash blinks twice with oil sign
Hello, I have a 2001 gs-r that I recently purchased. Today I noticed the oil lamp blink twice and went to check my oil level and noticed it was a bit hard to see or that or i'm just blind. But anyways I would also like to add that i just had Honda change the oil 3-4 weeks prior. Is there any reason why this is happening? Or could it be a common problem on Integras?
You could be burning or leaking oil. On these older Hondas, unless you have all new gaskets/seals, healthy cylinders/rings etc, you need to pay attention to these things. My Integra LS has 200k miles on it and still runs great, but I still need to check my fluids once a month or so.

I'm not sure if the last owner had the gasket or seals. I'm gonna say no. But I'll keep an extra eye for the fluids now. I didn't know it was that common on these older models. Let's say the seals are bad, how much am I looking at for the fix? Is this something I could manage by myself? Any other input would be great.
Thank you again.
You could not only be leaking oil, but burning oil due to piston ring/cylinder blow by or valve guide seals. Just one of those things you'll need to diagnose to figure out where your oil is going. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and it could be as easy as a new oil pan gasket or valve cover gasket, so try to figure it out and maybe start there. Looking at your spark plugs could also tell you if you're burning oil.
PS if you do gaskets, stay oem. Myhondahabbit.com makes a good oem oil pan gasket and oil pan stud kit that most people swear by.

So I just got back from Honda and they are thinking it's the Piston rings. Apparently that's where it's burning oil according to the tech. They quoted me a couple thousand to do a engine rebuild. Does this seem accurate? I'm just extremely saddened since I just purchased this car not more then a month ago.
Did they do a leak down/compression test or is it a guess?
Check your plugs and see if any oil is on them.
Does the car smoke? Blue/white smoke? And when was the last time you changed the pcv valve- they can get stuck open and burn oil.
also what type of oil are you running?

Basically it'd be time for a rebuild on your engine. Good news is that you'd have good compression, and no leaks because you'd be replacing all of those seals and gaskets!
Bad news is unfortunately somebody probably knowingly sold you a car with bad rings. Live and learn, and if you can take the time to rebuild the engine you'd be learning a whole lot in the process and will likely never have this happen again!

I would answer those questions before forking out a few grand to a dealership....

To see the oil level take the dipstick out and wipe it clean, then re dip it and you'll see a clear line. Otherwise it is a bit hard to see where the line is.
