I have a 1992 Civic Si hatch that I am swapping motors in and cannot get the engine to fire.
Background:
Bought the car used with a running SOHC zc and a VTEC head. Car ran great for years until the timing belt snapped. I have since bought another zc engine with a non-VTEC head. Stamp on the head is "PM3-17". The wiring harness was a mess so I ordered and installed the Rywire Budget tuck harness.
When I turn the key I have power and can hear the fuel pump prime. When the engine is cranked over, it turns over but will not fire.
I have check for spark and fuel and both are there. Cam timing looks like it lines up well with the marks on the timing cover and I have verified plug wires several times. When I tested for spark I did notice that the spark was orange in color. I have tried advancing and retarding the timing by twisting the distributor and have not had any changes.
Running the same ecu (PO8 I believe) as the mini me set up. As far as I can tell everything is OBD 1
Any pointers? Might have missed something somewhere but I'm running out of ideas. I have included a few pictures to show timing, computer, and engine I bought and am using. I'm stumped.
