2004 Civic SiR Coupe U.K
My previous posts suggested I was looking at an Si but in fact it is an SiR Coupe, made in the UK. As I said before the car has sat at least a year. I pulled the battery and it did charge up. After installing the charged battery the car did start after 15 seconds of cranking. The idle seemed high and after kicking the accelerator the idle began fluctuating from about 1500 to 2000 rpm. I checked the air box and all good. I found one vacuum hose off ( from engine to duct between air box and throttle body) and after putting that back on there was no improvement. Can someone give me some ideas as to where or how to start troubleshooting this. I am not too keen at throwing a bunch of new parts at it before I get some good ideas. Thanks and any advice will help. While the car was running the battery light remained lit and the airbag light stayed lit. No other lights persisted.
get a scanner and see what codes it gives you, check all the fuses, test the sensors around the hose you reconnected. check to see if the throttle body is clean while you're at it and clean it.
The CEL is not lit so I assume no codes have been thrown, but I will check with my scanner. Another issue is the SRS and airbag symbol is lit up. Can I assume the you tube video's detailing how to fix this dilemma is accurate for the Honda SiR. I don't find many video's on the Sir, but lots on the Honda Civic.
I still have not cleaned the IAC, however, there is a large split in the underside of the air intake duct from the air box to the throttle body. The battery is fine and the alternator is charging however the battery light remains lit. Any suggestions on the battery light?
