Default Engine feels like it trying to stall

I have a 2002 Honda CRV. Runs well until I come home. I can drive into town and around with no issues. Coming home I have a fairly steady but steep drive up a mountain. As soon as my revs get to 2800 it starts puttering and feeling like it will stall.
I have replaced spark plugs, changed oil, fuel pump and fuel filter and I think it's called the vtech solenoid. Put in fuel injector cleaner as well as premium gas.
Any other thoughts or suggestions as to what I can try?

If you put it in neutral or are just driving around town (i.e. not under a lot of engine load) does it rev freely up to redline?

Yes. I have pushed it when on fairly flat ground and had it rev to at least 4000. Also rev it high in neutral and it never does it.

Because you said puttering I would take a look at the ignition coils. You can look up the spec and check the resistance on them. When you changed the spark plugs, was there any oil on the coils? Other than that I usually tell people you may have to wait until it becomes more obvious until the problem can be more easily diagnosed.

There was no oil on the coils. What do you mean by waiting until it becomes more obvious? It is very obvious. As soon as it has a steady steep climb up the mountain it does it. You have to keep the rpm under 2800 otherwise it putters and looses power. Makes for a slow drive home as I can go over about 40/km per hr. And the engine light comes on throwing the same code for the vtech solenoid which we already replaced. Could it be the oil pressure switch?
Running out of ideas.

The vtec oil pressure switch can give you driveability problems, yes. Everything around the vtec solenoid and switch is plugged in with no oil on pins or in the plug and no corrosion on the pins?

There are a couple brands of brake clean I've seen, if use it around any electrical connectors it'll throw a code for whatever you're near.
