Default No speedometer or odometer?

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 2003 Honda Civic, and the speedo isn't working and the odometer stopped working soon after I got it.

The car had 172k miles and I don't drive it much. But it would be nice to have a speedo that doesn't climb past 140mph at a stop... Not to mention I'm selling the car and it'd be a lot easier to sell it with a working odometer...

I've done some reading and saw some people say you should have a check engine light for it, which I don't. I assume it's the speed sensor but would like o know for sure before replacing things blindly. Any help would be appreciated.
