Default what is the stock and max boost of the td04?

2007 Acura RDX turbo with a KN airfilter installed. I am wanting to tune the turbo, but I forgot the stock psi and I want to know what the stock and max are so that I don't damage my car while tuning/driving it.

knowing what the max/"stock" amount of boost pressure is not going to destroy your car. The tuner will help determine that. A TD04 is a generic housing size and doesn't reflect the airflow rate of the unit. You'll need to find a part number for the specific model and compare that to that Mitsubishi application

Wouldn't you just keep adding psi while tuning (on race gas and conservative timing) until it looks like its starting to back up (stops making power and or detonation is detected) and then pull back a few psi, to be safe for street use on pump gas.

Pretty much. (Although the tuner will want some idea as to the flow rate of the turbocharger to detect what point that efficiency would end, and the turbo is basically not converting air any longer.)
However, you don't just keep adding boost pressure than "back it down". You want to get close to that point without having to experience detonation. You don't go into a detonating condition, and then try to go down below it. You want to prevent any detonation from occurring. If tuners did what you proposed, no rotary engine would ever survive one of your tuning sessions.
