Default Troubleshooting:GSR b18c1 NA w/ knock code 23

Hello, honda tech. So I've finished with my gsr swap, I'm running a 2000 Acura gsr motor on a obd 1 p72 most everything is stock, fresh rebuild, cold air intake, no cat on my exhaust......that's about it......btw in my 92 civic si. The problem I'm dealing with is a code 23 knock sensor.....so I thought originally it must be my fuel air ratio, goes lean due to the fact that I had a stock civic fuel pump. However, I swapped it out for a walbro fuel pump along with a AEM fuel regulator then set my fuel pressure to about 47-57, however, I'm still getting this code...... The code is never present at idle only when the vehicle is under load and or reved up a bit so my attention turns to possibly my fuel injectors or ignition timing. This is a hard one for me I would greatly appricate your help and experience in helping me to solve my broblem. Thank you!

What is your timing set at now? I would get a timing light and set the timing to stock first. I'm assuming you are running a chipped ECU? Your problem may lie in the tune, so getting a stock GSR basemap may help.

Yeah the timing has been on my mind because I recently pulled motor to get something tig welded and when hocked up chain I took off distributor. When I put the motor back in I set timing again 16 btdc, however, this time I noticed cel light come on much quicker then before when driving under load......Problem is I don't have the top half to my timing cover which I believe gives you I sight in order to line light up for accurate measurement.

Solid Mounts, bad mounts, Bad injectors, bad grounding, bad sensor, bad fuel pump, amp and subs, aftermarket valvetrain. bad tune, crank sensor noise, jankie exhaust. A lot of things cause knock signals. In most cases it's really seeing knock. Tuning wise I usually don't use knock trims due to many variables.

Yeah man, what u said about exhaust I think may be it. Btw it's running on stock obd1 p72, however when I started the motor for the first time I had no codes but I was running header no exhaust after about a couple hundred miles I had a exhaust shop weld a pipe to connect exhaust without flex or any flanges, it was shortly after that when I seen this code pop up for the first time but I did make the connection. Earlier in this thread I mentioned I had to pull the motor for different reason to get it welded, when I reinstalled it I noticed that the exhaust shop had left one side of my rubber exhaust hanger undone, so I hooked it back up. When driving it again the code came on much quicker, so tonight before I drove into town I unhooked the one side, the code seemed to not come on so quickly....So we don't know for sure but I'm thinking maybe a trip back to exhaust shop for a flex pipe may take care of the code.

So the code has been fixed. I did add a flex pipe to my exhaust, however, what fixed the problem was paying around 100 dollars for a KS sensor (knock sensor). So I learned, do not buy a 10 dollar KS sensor off of Amazon. Anyhow, I have a new problem, I need a gsr cylinder head. The car from this form is my only car and I use it to get to school and my job at Hyundai, (I am beginner mechanic). My car is burning oil, it’s not PCV, it’s not piston rings (I have no leakage in all cylinders) it’s my guides and a lil was coming through spark plug threads cause my valve cover and seals should be replaced. Anyhow if anyone has a head they want to sell or could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank You.
