Need help identifying transmission
I bought this transmission as part of a deal with a guy that included an axle and halfshaft. He said it was a hydro tranny out of a wrecked 97 ls. I suspect this isnt true because not all of the bolt holes line up to bolt it to the motor and the obd2 b18 starter doesnt bolt directly in either. Is there any way by looking at it that i can tell if this is 90-93 or 94-01?
Sure. The '90-93 is cable operated... meaning it has an arm sticking out of the front of the case. The hydro trans has the release bearing arm tip (with a ball style pocket facing the header) and a pair of 8mm holes facing the front to bolt the slave cylinder to the transmission. The fact that you stated that all bolt holes do not match the block concerns me. All bolt holes in a cable style AND a hydro style are the same when it comes to bolting it to the block, so maybe you didn't actually buy a "B" series transmission. How about taking a picture of it and maybe a close-up of what bolts don't line up
Im so stupid haha it looks like part of the motor has been cracked or chipped off and grinded down smooth to look normal.. must have been dropped or something too bad the guy i bought it from didnt mention that. Thanks a lot for the info though I learned something new today
