Fuel Line Question.. 96-00 Hatchback
Hi everyone,
So I was replacing my leaking fuel lines this past week, (Specifically the Return line and the Feed Line) with a kit I got from ebay. The problem is in the process i discovered the metal vapor line under the car that runs from the evap canister to the fuel tank is rotted out also, and it broke in half just by touching it! So can anyone point me in the right direction as to where i can buy this line from, i'm completely stumped.

My fuel return line rotted out as well. Except, when I pulled it, every line under car broke. All three fuel lines and both brake lines.
I just made some measurements and went the parts store and bought straight sections of pre-flared lines and a $5 pipe bending tool. Bending them to shape using the old parts as a template was easy. Getting them in... that was the hard part. Bring a section to the store with you so you get the right sizes.
I think my all in cost was well under $200. You should be closer to $20 if you just need the evap line.

Ok i will check at the dealer, do you know if the gas tank will need to be lowered to replace this line? I finished every other fuel line but this one looks like it connects into the side of the tank? i don't see any other way of reaching the end of it?
I had to drop the gas tank since I was replacing all the lines, not sure about the vapor line.. and I had to slightly drop the subframe (front) to get them up against the firewall/underbody. Looks like the factory put these on first before anything else. And you're right the vapor line does go in on the side, hopefully someone else could tell you a trick to install it. I pulled everything out since I was gutting the entire system.
and I looked it up, here's the parts diagram for the 96 hatch, didn't know which one you had, since in 98 or 99 they changed the emission systems a little bit. But I'm pretty sure the lines are all the same.
