i have a 95 lx and was wondering if it is possible to install a 96-00 brake booster/MC and prop valve in my car and if it is what would be required to do it? mainly want to know about the prop valve.

 

Did you change brake sizes?

Why would do you feel the need to change the Prop Valve and Booster/MC?

 

No i have not upgrade the brakes in any way. I was mainly looking for other options to the brake problem i have been fighting for a month and a half. i have changed out nearly all brake parts and then had to put back some that i had changed out because the parts i used where bad. It all started when i changed out the prop valve. i started to have brake drag on my front passenger side. i have bleed it so many times and different ways (gravity and petal pump)and still have trouble with that side. i changed out the calipers on both sides in the front and put in new brake shoes in the back and even changed out the rubber hose on the side with problems. so that why i am looking into other options for fixing the problem until i can afford to trade the car off for something newer.

 

The brakes will drag if the master cylinder piston doesn't come all the way back out when the pedal is not pressed. If you have been changing the booster or cylinder you need to check the adjustment of several parts: the push rod from the booster to the cylinder, the push rod from the pedal to the booster, and the brake light switch.

 

sorry for the delayed response. i have fixed the brake problem mostly at least. it ended up being that i did not properly tighten the booster to the firewall. however it was not completely fixed because i have a weak booster that needs replacing. That is one of the reasons i asked if it was possible to upgrade the brake system to the newer style of the 96+ setup, i wanted to have more options if i went to junkyard for parts. The junk yard charges 18 for mc and 20for booster and if i got the prop valve that is only 10 and not sure how much they charge for the brake lines.

 

The prop valve doesn't bolt up and lines don't line up. You could use one if you found another way to mount it and bent the lines and possibly extended them, but you'd be far better off it to just find a used '92 - '95 prop valve.

The master cylinder and booster will swap as a unit but you have to bend the lines to make them fit. Again it's better to just used the right parts.
