A few weeks ago I picked up a white '95 Accord LX sedan with the 2.2L/automatic for $250 in non-running condition. When I went to look at the car I immediately guessed the problem was fuel delivery as I wasn't hearing the fuel pump prime. After buying and transporting the car home, I dropped the fuel tank and replaced the fuel pump assembly along with all the rubber fuel lines above the tank (as some were beginning to rot.) Unfortunately this didn't solve the immediate problem, but after additional troubleshooting I finally guessed that the ECU was not sending the fuel pump prime signal to the main relay. Replacing the ECU with a junkyard unit solved the problem and got it running. Since getting it running, I've also replaced the alternator/voltage regulator, brake master cylinder, and bled the brakes. The car now runs and drives fine and we've been driving it regularly. Almost everything works, including the A/C!
Which brings me to the point of this thread - the few things that don't work. I'm not super familiar with Hondas from this era, so any suggestions for these remaining issues that you guys have would be greatly appreciated!
The driver's-side door keyhole doesn't work. This is the main issue I need to solve. The key goes in and will turn left and right freely, but it does not lock or unlock the doors. The passenger side keyhole works just fine with the same key, and the power lock switches/lock tabs in the doors all function fine. I pulled the driver's door panel off and it looks like all the pieces of the lock mechanism are there and in working order. When I turn the key, there is a little rod between the lock cylinder and the door lock actuator that looks like it's moving the way it should. So, is this likely to be a switch inside the lock cylinder? And if so, how do I replace it? If not, door lock actuator?
Speedometer and Odometer/Trip Counter do not work. They did magically start working during a drive a couple days after I got the car on the road, but after turning off the engine they have not worked since. The rest of the time, the odometer/trip counter doesn't move at all, and the speedo hovers/wobbles around the 20mph mark regardless of the vehicle's actual speed. As the car moves faster the needle will wobble faster. Cruise control generally works, so that leads me to believe the issue is not a faulty VSS? Probably the cluster, right?
Cruise Control. Until today, the cruise control has worked flawlessly every time I've used it (which is often.) Today, the first few times I set it, it would cut itself off after a second or two. The main switch still stayed in the 'On' position with the green indicator, but the Cruise Control light on the instrument cluster would go out. After a few attempts, it began working normally and seemed to work fine for the rest of the trip.
If anyone could shed some light on some of these issues, I would (again) be very appreciative! I'll toss in some photos of the car as well.
