Default Possible tranny replacement 00 Accord 2.3

Hello,

So I think I am nearing a transmission replacement. The question is trying to find a used or buy a JDM? I want to do the swap labor my self. I would try and re build it but that seems a bit unrealistic for a weekend warrior. I am not interested in paying 2K for a rebuild so... Thoughts?

Mason

JDM from eBay ($500-600) or a rebuilt one with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty if you wanna spend more. Don't rebuild it yourself.

I had heard that you may run into issues with sensor relocations depending on if the trans is Maxa or Baxa if replaced with a JDM transmission. Has anyone experienced this? I ask because I'll probably be looking to do the same thing on the '99.

I don't believe any sensors are different, but I do know the solenoids need to be switched over. Either way, many people have done the switch the JDM, so you will find lots of info online. It may just be buried.

I hear the JDM units will throw CEL codes as their smog ordinances are different than that of the US. Other than that, seems like they perform quite well.

Also, where are people finding non- JDM rebuilt trannies in the 600-800 range? Everything I am seeing is 1000+ that is non-JDM...

If you can get it to Synchrotech they will rebuild it for $400 plus parts so around 800ish at most.
