HELP- I am woman, but very able!!!
I'm having issues with my car....she just died while driving, at first i thought it was the battery....replaced battery checked voltage and alternator was working properly. checked with a meter. I recently replaced starter also. I decided to take a ride she ran great and she just died . She wouldn't start, its cranks but doesnt turn over. Towing cost me a pretty penny. Im having a mechanic come over here today and before he comes i want to try to troubleshoot before he'll tell me i need a fuel pump and charge me $$$$$ . What should i do???

 

Timing belt?

 

There is a good chance you aren't getting fuel and it could be the pump. First thing to check is, can you hear it prime when you turn the key on?

If it does, next thing I'd do is check for fuel pressure.

 

If the starter spins but the engine does not, then it is most likely something wrong with the Bendix drive of the starter motor.
Unless you mean, it cranks, turns over, but does not start/run.

 

When you crank it does it make some awful fast spinning noise that just sounds wrong or does it sound like a normal crank? If it sounds awful compare to youtube videos of cranking with a snapped timing belt.
