Trying to figure out how to make this swap work and make it done correctly. A previous owner swapped the engine into the car. Heres the run down of what I can tell was done. D16Y7 motor with OBD2 injectors (I assume are the ones that went to the Y7) and their pigtails spliced into the OBD1 harness running on an OBD1 P28 vtec ecu. Car is a 5 speed. Header on it has o2 sensor only reading from cylinder 4. Will this setup work correctly? The car drove great the first few days after buying it. Now it has a slight miss on cylinder 4. That after driving for awhile other cylinders begin to miss aswell so bad I cant accel up a hill in 2nd gear. When unplugging the injector for cylinder 4 it runs the same. Car runs fantastic when the engine is cold. But once it begins to warm up it starts to run terribly. Ive done a valve adjustment to .007 on the intake and .009 on the exhaust. Should I go a hair looser? Im also having issues getting the ignition timing right. Beware I am learning about hondas never owned one before this. Love the car just hating its issues. My goal is to have the car running properly, reliability and most of all serve its purpose of being a gas saver. Im aiming for close to the mpg of a D15B7. Local honda guys are scratching their heads at this swap. Ive thought about getting a P06 ecu from a B7, along with injectors and correct pigtails to see if that helps but what about the distributor? Im currently unsure as to what distributor is on the car. Appears to be an obd1 distributor with 2 connectors but im not sure what engine its from. Open to anything at this point I just want to fix this thing. I know someone with what they claim is a built D16Z6 I may be able to buy but I want to avoid an engine swap specially since idk whats been done to the engine and the current Y7 appears to be in decent shape.

 

The p06 would run better without check engine codes but you'll need some Civic Z6 or B7 injectors as the Y7 are a lower flow rate. You can use the B7 distributor as well as the Z6 legs won't line up. I'd get a stock header as the 02 needs to be at the collector or have someone weld in a bung before the catalytic. I'm assuming they swapped the intake manifolds over as well? Any other check engine codes?
