Default Thermal throttle body gaskets..

Anyone ever had one made for a 74mm skunk2 pro series, also out of curiosity, what "gains" have you had by switching to one, or is it more about consistency? Interested in results.

There's a few threads out there that have well documented the results. I'm fuzzy on remembering the details on what the actual outcome was.

Something to consider, not for the TB gasket but for the intake manifold gasket, is you're moving the manifold further back away from the engine, towards the firewall. This can change the way the spray pattern of the injector enters the manifold, sometimes causing it to "bottom out" along the runner.

If you google around you should find some good threads, both here and S2KI I believe.

do you think that could cause a random misfire?

Unfortunately I've never used or tested thermal gaskets myself, so I don't know all of the trade offs or what the potential results could be.

All I know is that changing to a thicker gasket will alter where the injectors are placed, and even that small amount of difference will change the way the fuel enters the valves, and also induce turbulence. What effect that ultimately has on power, fuel economy, or fuel atomization I have absolutely no information on, I just know those are all factors.

I argue that a thermal gasket for your throttle body only makes sense if you're not running an IACV or pushing coolant through those passages because you'll be heating the TB anyway. The thermal gasket on the intake manifolds, regardless of who makes them, have been documented to be troublesome. They break and leak overtime (due to brittleness from lots of heat cycles) and maybe yield a minimal amount of horsepower gains.

That being said, I have the Hondata gasket on my motor and truth be told I doubt it makes a huge difference.
