b18b and $1,400! What to do?
Hey guys, I have a b18b in my 92 si hatch and I have 1,400 to spend. Im stuck on what to do with it. I only work weekends since Im a high school student, so my paychecks aren't much. I was wondering how much it would cost to convert my b18b to ls/vtec. Would I be able to get a nice set up for the money I have? I would turbo but it would take me forever to save enough to get a kit. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
save and get a turbo or make a junkyard turbo
just save and start to build the motor and save some more and get a kit
thats what im planning to do, im a highschool student too.
Im still in high school too!!! i plan on getting an LS swap pretty soon. My bro said it would cost like $1500 for a vtec head and parts alone plus labor and stuff.......Im sticking to b18b/bolt-ons......
hey, how does $2000 for a full LS conversion sound??? And like $600 for labor???

i think 2000 is alot for an ls swap, and 600 for labor dang, do it urself, its not that hard, its a good learning expierence.
deffinatlysave up a lil more and get the max rev turbo deal, or build your own...you'll deffinatly be faster than what you could make it run with a N/A setup for that price

yeah, those killer ls/vtec set ups you saw costed a lot more than 1400. Just do a home made turbo set up. If your patient and can find good deals/have friends help out, you can keep the cost under 1K and spend the rest on a good clutch.
i think its funny how against ls/vtec people are. do ls/vtec and then throw a turbo on there. for everything you need to do ls/vtec it's about 400$ seriously, you need head, intakemanifold, and about 30$ in lines and fittings. and it's an easy 30+hp. why not take advantage of the most effective performance device on hondas.
I cant seem to find any cheap vtec heads. All the ones are see are like 500 bucks and there imcomplete and most of them dont have distributors. What fittings would I need for it?

heh, sell the B18B for some more $$$, go back to a SOHC VTEC motor but build up a high-compression engine using oem (ZC) pistons, get an LSD and a final drive and smoke some B-series while saving a few bucks
So does having money left in your wallet after building something up
