2003 Honda Civic EX with overheating issues...
My 2003 Honda Civic EX has 189,000 miles. I have had the thermostat replaced with a Honda one, heater core has been flushed, and have had hoses checked as well. Head gasket was replaced 3 years ago.
Slight coolant leak and heater sometimes blows hot in the summer and temp goes up.
I am really at a loss of what to do.
I know that this year and make of Honda has had issues.
Anyone have any ideas?>
If not, I am thinking about selling it and not investing any more money into the pit.
Thanks!
Mike

Jdm engine swap it. $650 for a motor shipped. $100 in gaskets. A bunch of cuts and scrapes on your hands and arms and you have a car that'll last you some time.
Compression test it. If the test comes back good then you can work to fix it. If it shows bad compression and you don't want to put any more money or effort into it then just junk it or sell it.
Thanks for your replies to my thread. I had a compression test and the pressures were normal. Don't know when they replaced the head gasket if the surface was flat or not?
I think I am going to take a wait and see approach as my son has indicated it has not overheated lately and seems to be working fine.
If it gives him any more problems I think I may drop a rebuilt engine into it because the body and interior is in very good condition.
Thanks for your help!

If it's leaking, do a coolant pressure test when the car is off and cold. It is a night and day different in finding leaks. Most Advance Auto or Autozone stores will have a kit you can borrow with a (large) deposit, but you get the money back when you bring the kit back. I've used it multiple times and I can't say enough good things about it.
